Hawzah News Agency, Hojatoleslam Sayyed Sajid Ali Naqvi, head of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, issued a message on the martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Shia Imam, Hazrat Imam Muhammad Taqi (PBUT), emphasizing that following the radiant life and conduct of that noble Imam is a sure path to achieving guidance and redemption.
The message reads: Muslims, particularly the youth, must carefully study the life, conduct, and teachings of this great Imam and implement them to the best of their ability in their individual and social lives, for acting upon the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) leads one to eternal prosperity and salvation.
A Short Yet Deeply Impactful Period of Leadership
The head of Pakistan's Shia Ulema Council, referring to the difficult circumstances under which Imam Jawad (PBUH) lived, stated: Although the opportunity for his presence in guiding the Ummah was brief, that very period was replete with lasting works and abundant blessings for the Islamic world. Imam Jawad (PBUH), under the harshest political and social conditions, shouldered the weighty responsibility of Imamate with ultimate wisdom, prudence, and insight, guiding the Islamic community through sagacious methods.
He added: The teachings and precious sayings of his Holiness are overflowing with timeless wisdom that can serve as a guide for human life across all eras. Among these is the invaluable statement: "The beauty of speech lies in eloquence; the justice of faith in its steadfastness; the tranquility of worship in a calm heart; the adornment of knowledge in humility; the adornment of intellect in courtesy; the adornment of forbearance in open-heartedness; the adornment of divine fear in lengthy weeping; and the adornment of the soul in self-discipline." These luminous words are, in truth, a compilation of ethical and human principles presented for the prosperity of mankind.
A Guide for Rulers and the Masses Alike
This prominent Pakistani scholar further noted: Imam Muhammad Taqi (PBUH) continuously called the Islamic Ummah to cling to the Holy Quran, follow the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and act upon the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT). As the true heir of the Prophet, he was the guide of the community at every stage of his life. This guidance was not limited to the common people but also encompassed the rulers of the time.
He continued: Like the other pure Imams (PBUT), his Holiness carried out the vital duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil with courage and steadfastness. On this path, he faced immense pressures, hardships, and conspiracies, yet never abandoned the path of truth and the guidance of the Islamic Ummah.
Steadfastness Against Tyrannical Rulers
The head of Pakistan's Shia Ulema Council, in another part of his remarks, pointed to a statement by Imam Reza (PBUH), saying: In response to the taunts and doubts of opponents regarding his fatherhood, his Holiness declared: "Having a child is by the will and decree of God, and soon my Lord will grant me a son who will be the true inheritor of Imamate and the guide of creation."
He stressed: Imam Muhammad Taqi (PBUH), through a wise and far-sighted approach, charted the course of guidance for the Islamic Ummah for all time and stood with steadfastness against the conspiracies of oppressive rulers and anti-religion currents—an approach rarely witnessed in Islamic history.
In conclusion, Hojatoleslam Sayyed Sajid Ali Naqvi called upon all Muslims to study the luminous life of Imam Jawad (PBUH) and act upon his teachings, thereby smoothing the path of guidance, steadfastness, and eternal salvation in their own lives.
